Jun 06, 2012, 1 comments, 1 smiles On the world environment day, kiddies at project learnt different upcycling ideas: Creating cost- effective and eco friendly paper dustbins and curtains out of old newspapers. Most of the kids were happy learning about upcycling and were coming up with fun creative ideas of making cupboards, painted tire swings and wall decors out of old newspapers. But 2 of the kids, Bhavesh and Kalpesh love spending time in outdoor activities rather than sitting, doing some art work. They were not showing much interest and gave up on the activity of making dustbin. I constantly maintained patience and tried to involve them in the activity by motivating them, giving them back-rub and hugs if they failed to make a nice piece. After trying 6-7 times, to my surprise they learnt innovative and easy technique and started enjoying it and ended up making 4-5 pieces each required to complete the dustbin structure. All of them are thrilled and trying their best to make their classroom look cheerful and in a way learning new uses for old things.
May 27, 2012, 4 smiles Ripples of kindness by Chillar party: A few school kids from the AFS program visited our project for the slum kids last month and had fun interaction. These school kids were moved enough to raise donations for the little kids at the project. So, they came up with the idea of distributing buttermilk for the passerbys on the streets in scorching heat. Today they are meeting the kids to share their experience, gifts and love. :))
Mar 31, 2012, 1 smiles After reading - "An intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker" by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and meditating for an hour, there was a thought on interdependence: By interdependence, we can feel oneness with all and feel warmth with everyone. Just a thought of interdependence- neither dependency, nor independence gives me joy.
Jan 24, 2012, 2 smiles A beautiful thought on power of silence," Man needs silence. To be alone or together looking for God in silence. There it is that we accumulate the inward power which we distribute in action, put in the smallest duty and spend in the severest hardships that befall on us. Silence came before creation, and the heavens were spread without a word." -Mother Teresa
Jan 20, 2012, 1 comments, 3 smiles Feels blessed to have shared wonderful conversation with Jayeshbhai and Maheshbhai today on few thoughts from Bhagwad Geeta bodhsar and kabir doha. It was beautifully explained that change in thought process of a single person can bring about the change in society. First, there is change in thought process because of awareness which brings about the change in person while the thought is executed through his actions. Sharing the experiences about the same with people can sow seeds of awareness and change which can change the society with its ripples. Thus, having thoughts that contain joy would lead to highest form of words that contain truth and grandest form of feeling we call love and a changed society. Also, there was another thought on how important it is to have equanimity by seeing good in each one, being open to all and learning from everyone for it can be achieved ... Read Full Story
