Sep 12, 2016, 5 comments, 23 smiles This modest little restaurant in Bangalore, has a charity wall for customers, who can buy an extra portion, and stick the bill on the wall for the ones who can't afford a meal. Feeling happy to see this little act of kindness, anonymously by so many :)
Jun 17, 2016, 16 smiles We entered a store and saw this note on their table: 'Purchase? - Pay by placing the money in the box'. It was a little unusual for us to see a store which trusted its customers with their money box. I hope someday I learn to live with so much trust for people around me.
Oct 30, 2014, 1 comments, 15 smiles Two years back, I was tagged with this cloth-bag at my first moved-by-love retreat in Sughad. Little did I know this was the beginning of a stead practice of using cloth bags instead of plastic ones. On that retreat, I met Stephanie, who later came to stay with us. She inspired me to start using this cloth-bag, which was lying unused until then. I am grateful for these little gifts this community has given me, and inspired me to take these small steps and change my habits. This cloth bag goes everywhere with me, and is sometimes more important than money or cell-phone when I step out of home. Thank for unknowingly sowing the seeds of a good habit in me :)
Oct 29, 2013, 10 smiles There was this young boy, who was going to light the lamp in the temple. Normally his mother used to go, but since his mother was ill, the young boy took in on himself to light the lamp everyday. One gentleman saw this young boy, and wanted to test him, so he asked him "What are you doing?" "I am lighting the lamp" the young boy said. Saying this the boy lit the lamp. "Do you know where the flame come from?" Gentleman asked the young boy Young boy got very perplexed for some time, then one spark of inspiration came to him, and he extinguished the flame with this hand. "Can you tell me where the flame has gone?", he asked the gentleman.. :) Such and many more stories of inspiration emerged: Hands, Head, Heart in Bangalore
Oct 26, 2013, 13 smiles We just held a one-day retreat in Bangalore with Nipunbhai, Siddharth, Lahar, and Deven. The opening circle set a powerful tone, as we engaged in an lively discussion on various edge; after lunch, we took to the streets to plant trees, decorate a senior park with hand-made art, and give tea to watchmen and service staff on the streets; and then we close with a silent walk and circle of gratitude. It is very difficult to describe anyone what we did the full day yesterday. The activities that we engaged in were not novel or extraordinary. But the power of the gathering and the space was SO extra ordinary, that it moved many to tears at various points of the day. By the end of day, all of us were filled up with so much of positive energy and gratitude and love. Feeling unexplainable elevation ...
Sep 10, 2013, 3 smiles Jill Bolte Taylor: My stroke of insight | Video on TED.com Jill Bolte Taylor got a research opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: She had a massive stroke, and watched as her brain functions -- motion, speech, self-awareness -- shut down one by one. An astonishing story.
Apr 16, 2013, 2 comments, 6 smiles I am speechless after receiving this particular email from someone who wants to volunteer for the next Seva Cafe. The last para read as follows.. "Pl let me know when the next event is happening. I am keen to volunteer in any manner I can, to serve and experience. I will bring along my wife and mother ( 90 year old who taught me the joy of giving)." How often do we meet a 90 year old? Simply visualizing a 90-year old serve and volunteer is giving me so much of positive energy! Thank you Universe, I feel blessed :)
