Hey Everyone! I'm Just Posting A ...

Jul 27, 2020, 2 comments, 8 smiles Hey everyone! I'm just posting a quick shameless promo about our new podcast: YouthSpeaks!! It's a mental health podcast focused on helping the wellbeing of youth around the world. As two teens admidst a global pandemic, Leela and I have channeled our boredom into giving back to the world - hoping to make it a better place, one podcast episode at a time. Throughout the next year, we'll have various episodes about the pandemic, desensitization, and even the BLM movement and how it affects people all around. As we narrow in on other problems like body image, social media and even self-esteem, we'll constantly be bringing up ServiceSpace and all of its wonderful volunters! The first episode will be released on Thursday (7/30). You can find it on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and even Instagram! Tune in to hear about mental health worldwide, and learn more about yourself through practices and more :)) -Sonya & Leela

Our Call With Janessa

Jul 17, 2020, 1 comments, 12 smiles Hey everyone! This week in the internship, Tanvi and I hosted a Teen Awakin Call with one of the most marvelous people I've ever met - Janessa Gans Wilder! As we persevered through the difficult questions (and the tons and tons of emails), we didn't expect the call to flow so smoothly and effortlessly. From Janessa killing the fun icebreaker to talking about serious topics related to countries abroad, she wrapped up the call with her amazing advice to all the young ServiceSpace women :)). All the work was so worth it, and we loved having her! Thank you to the people who came, and to Audrey for giving us an opportunity to host this marvelous call - couldn't have done it without you.

Youth Who Matter

Jun 13, 2020, 3 comments, 12 smiles As an extroverted teenager in quarantine, striving to meet my own goals and expand my skills, I'm constantly looking for opportunities to give back to the community. I'm Sonya Surapaneni, a rising sophomore at The Athenian School. Through the Corona Virus, I have remained positive, trying to shine light on small acts of kindness through the world-wide pandemic. Although I've been researching and writing about things happening at a large scale, I missed my best friends trying to give back to society - right under my nose! Greatly inspired by this, I wanted to share it with the commmunity, in hope of providing light through the events of the world. I FaceTimed each of them, asked them a couple of questions, and took notes on their ideas - quickly putting them in a Q&A format in a Google Doc. I have linked the interviews down below. Enjoy!
