Maki: What Is Prayer?

May 19, 2021, 1 comments, 7 smiles [Couple summers ago, I had a chance to be in Japan for the Symphony of Peace Prayers. One act that deeply touched me was Maki-san, as one of the most important conveners of the several thousand person event, spent several hours live-translating between me and Masami-san. I was very wowed, and remember thinking that only a person of prayer could do such a selfless act for an everyday person like me. Last week, when I was on a call with all Saionji Sisters, I was remembering that. And I wanted to transcribe a share that Maki shared on that call -- perhaps in the same spirit she offers so much to the world. It is a lightly edited version of what Maki spontaneously shared on our call.] Maki: Thank you so much for all your shares. I have learned so much and I got so much inspiration. What I felt through ... Read Full Story

Laddership 1.4

Jul 24, 2018, 12 smiles In learning, you will teach and in teaching, you will learn- Phil Collins A few days back I was reminded of my 10th-grade journey while preparing two kids for their re-test. It was a crucial milestone for them to pass this exam as there is a high probability of drop out which means this might be the last time they would be entering a school premise in this lifetime. We were a team of three to four mentors working in a team. I had the charge to teach them Maths and Science in the evening after my office. Technically I was teaching them but there was so much to learn from these children, sharing a few thoughts. Faith can make a difference! Whenever I asked them which subject should I teach or what method would you be more comfortable with in terms of the teaching, their answer was simple. Whatever and whichever way ... Read Full Story

Hand Stitched Hearts From Japan

Jun 03, 2018, 1 comments, 25 smiles Following in the footsteps of Parag-bhai, Joserra, David, Preeta, Ameeta and many others last year, Nimo-bhai and I got to represent our ecosystem at the Symphony of Peace Prayers in Mt. Fuji (Japan). Nimo-bhai wowed the huge crowd with his song and moved many to tears. As we left, one of the most touching offering was this hand-stitched heart: Made by none other than Maki, Rika, Yuka's kids (in particular, Rumi, Mika, Seka and Micky): We could feel the love in so many small ways. Ultimately, we are left with this feeling (at a local school that did a 21-day challenge prior to Nimo's visit):
