Quote of the Week

"Children grow up hearing how broken the environment is, how broken beyond repair. Plant strawberries together, make wild medicines, paint the sunrise. Show them proof that for every act of destruction, they can sow a seed, however small, of beauty." -- Nicolette Sowder

World Kindness Day: 20+ Outdoor Acts Of Kindness For Kids & Ways To Be Kind To Nature

"World Kindness Day is right around the corner and what better way to inspire kindness than to take a moment and be kind to our planet. Each year on November 13th, people all over the world come together and give kindness to each other, themselves, and the world.

World Kindness Day was designed to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness for good. Kindness is a fundamental part of the human condition which bridges the divides of race, religion, politics, gender, and location.  This shared movement reminds us all that compassion really does bind us together on this planet.

This year, we encourage you to reach out with acts of kindness to your families, neighborhoods, communities, and to our shared planet."   Read this week's featured article and discover 20 ideas for outdoor acts of kindness towards nature!

Title: I Can Save the Earth
By: Alison Inches and Viviana Garofoli
Ages: 3-6

"Meet Max the Little Monster. He is a cute, furry green monster who is an environmental nightmare. Among other things, he leaves on all the lights, keeps his computer plugged in, blasts the TV, hoards his old toys and uses so much toilet paper it clogs the toilet until finally, his excessive ways cause a power outage. With no TV to watch, computer to play on, video games to play with, Max finds there is a whole big world outside that he can make a difference in the environment.

Kids can follow Max the Little Green Monster's journey to environmental awareness and learn tips on how they can become little green monsters themselves." -- Publisher
