Evening of Music, with ServiceSpace Friends
Awakin Circles bring together small groups of people in living rooms around the world.  It's an evening that brings together silence, sharing, and community in an elegant way.

On Saturday, April 13th, we're delighted to host an Awakin circle in Pasadena -- with some very inspiring friends from ServiceSpace, and interesting tilt toward music. :)
  • 6 pm -- Sit together in silence for an hour
7 pm -- Circle of sharing
7:30 pm -- Music from Arun Dada and Paul Livingstone
8 30 pm -- Vegetarian meal offered by the hosts
To join, please RSVP below and you'll be sent an email with the logistics.

Some of the ServiceSpace friends joining the circle ...

Arun Bhatt ("Arun-dada") has spent decades serving alongside a Gandhian legend, Vinoba Bhave. Walking from village to village all across India, for tens of thousands of miles, he served the grassroots communities. As a part of the "Shanti Sena" (peace army), he breathed peace in warring areas -- often in the most remarkable ways. For 13 years, he went to jail every month for a peaceful protest to protect animal life. Stories of how he has transformed lives are almost like folk tales. To top it all off, he did this without owning anything, or ever selling his labor -- ever.  Even with a wife and two children!  All he has, and wants, is simply, and powerfully, the power of love. Now, at 86 years of age, his eyes are still shining, his heart still pours out soulful songs, and his presence quietly blesses -- without ever trying to.

Paul Livingstone is a celebrated Lebanese musician, who was a student of world-renowned sitarist Pandit Ravi Shankar, performed with the likes of Zakir Hussain, has issued five albums of his own music, and is most recently excited about the Soul Force Festival in late April -- "music as a vehicle for social change."

Fran Faraz: Director of Peace Studies at Golden West, visionary behind an annual peace conference, and huge fan of small acts of kindness (and someone who connected us with Iranian tradition of pish-kesh).

Rev. Bonnie Rose: As a former registered nurse, actress, and opera singer, Bonnie Rose's career trajectory has been anything but run-of-the-mill, but through it all her life's purpose has stayed constant: love. She's now a church minister, a blogger and finds a lot of value in sacred imperfection.

Nipun: founder of ServiceSpace, a global ecosystem whose projects like DailyGood, KarmaTube, KindSpring and KarmaKitchen have touched millions of lives and transformed his own. You can learn more in this old article on Meditation and Service -- and in this talk on Gandhi 3.0 at Emory.

It would be great to have you join us, share a contemplative space of music and stories, and plant seeds for co-creating more goodness in the world.

To join, simply RSVP below and we'll send you a follow-up email with the details.
