"Dancing Queen": 4000+ Hits In Three Days, And

In the three days since Dancing Queen was posted to KarmaTube as its current Video of the Week, it has received over 4000 hits.

When it's not terribly difficult to find them, I try to make a habit of contacting the creators of each of our featured videos, just to let them know.

And so it is that last Friday morning shortly after 9 o'clock found me reaching out to Sumit Roy, the maker of this whimsical and lovely short film (shot entirely on a Nokia cell phone and selected from a mountain of submissons to be part of the programming for last spring's global Pangea Day).

Within moments, this note back from Sumit:

"Hi, Jenny.  Thank you for the appreciation. I'm constantly surprised by how my little film continues to touch so many people across cultures: more power to stories! And more power to KarmaTube. I think what you are doing is beautiful and so so important, and I would love to do something with you guys..."

And now Sumit and I have begun a wonderful conversation about a new idea he has for a series of films--an idea that shines with possibility and fills me with a light and easy kind of happiness.  KarmaTube can't offer him a single penny--but what it can offer, in the absence of money, is enlivening, fluid, and really quite boundless.

More power to stories, indeed.  Especially the small ones like Dancing Queen, which are able to retain the texture and specificity that so often gets lost with "growth."  May the seeds continue to be planted, and may we remain mindful of their texture at every turn.
