Last Sunday, Gitanjali, the amazing mastermind behind Kat Katha - an organization that works with children of sex workers in the Red Light District in Delhi, gave us the opportunity to come to the brothel where she runs a day center for children and help beautify the center. We brought art supplies and spent the entire afternoon playing, laughing, and creating beautiful art with the children. At the end of the afternoon, we sat in a circle, shared a moment of silence under candle light, and served the children yummy treats to eat. Initially I was a bit nervous to go because I speak about 3 words of Hindi, but thankfully art is its own language and we conversed with smiles and laughter and drawing together. Such a magical afternoon!
