Serving This Summer's Sunshine At St. Wilfrid's

Aug 20, 2011, 2 comments The summer days are upon us and as we bask in the glorious sunshine, we really couldn’t get into the summer spirit without sharing the joy with a few elderly folks who are sometimes lonely and need some kind of activity to lure them out of their rooms. So last Sunday, eight of us came together to host a summer party for the residents at St. Wilfrid’s - an elderly care home we have been visiting for almost a year. We decided to make the most of the amazing weather by hosting the party outside in the lovely garden. The theme for this event was ‘holidays and seaside’ and we set the scene by decorating the garden with balloons, paper windmills, beach balls, swim rings, etc, kindly provided by Jenny. Tea And Trivia With The Elderly: A Royal Affair!

Apr 13, 2011, 4 comments Headline-grabbing royal weddings don’t come around that often, so it’s fair to say that the UK and the rest of the world is getting excited about the upcoming wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. We, at CharityFocus, surely aren't ones to be left out :)  So last Sunday, six of us teamed up to host a Royal Wedding-themed afternoon tea party at  St. Wilfrid's, a care home we have been visiting over the past few months.      Over the past month we planned the logistics of the event and it all came together spectacularly on Sunday when we transformed the conservatory at St Wilfrid's for the party. Isabel, Priya and Mehwaesh helped decorate the room with the Union Jack flag, buntings, fresh flowers, and to set up the food and drinks tables ahead of the event.
