The Artistry Of Laddership

A sculptor cannot work in thought experiments. There must be clay, marble, sand … something for the hands to touch, feedback for the senses to guide inspiration into form. Connection with the medium, interaction and feedback directly from the medium itself change the artist's perception of his/her own creation. Direct experience opens space for the actualization of art.

Humanity is changing. We are generating a new way of being, founded in compassion, expressed through kindness. Transcending all cultures, colors and creeds, we are answering a collective call for new systems, ideologies and inter-relationships that honor life in new ways. And that takes hands-on experience.

What then, is the medium when the artist is creating self-awareness for social change? It’s compassionate connection, inquiry and listening.

Laddership Pods provide a unique kind of opportunity for sculpting social innovation. The tech platform, emergent from inspired ideas and built by generously skilled “Tech Angels”, provides a structure through which the medium of participation can flow. In order for us to generate change in ourselves, we need feedback.

Participation is the art. Compassion is the medium. Wellness in all forms is the artistic expression of those who know there is a way to live that values life as the heart would have it. In this light, we are all artists. In our individual lives and collectively, coming together from the heart, for the heart, is an act of compassionate social innovation.

The magic of Laddership is almost certainly the community that comes together from around the world for the shared journey of self-inquiry. In the three Laddership Pods I've been honored to participate with, I believe we represented over 20 countries with vastly different cultures. Yet, the value of compassion was held with similar reverence no matter who came from where. Forty or more people show up to explore together for weeks. They explore their own beliefs, opinions, values, loves and vision, looking at real-world conflicts from the context of compassion. All explore uniquely, together. The shared context creates a particular kind of ease. There is a flow of responses to questions, comments on responses and replies to comments that deepens our own self-awareness and opens the way to learn about one another. Several participants spoke about how comfortable they felt sharing very deeply. Context cannot be understated as co-creative partner!

Exploring among open hearts is invaluable. Since age 11, self-inquiry has been part of my everyday life. I’ve participated in three Laddership Pods this year. In those collective 11 weeks, I had the opportunity to explore myself in ways that had never occurred to me before. There is, I’ve discovered, a difference between self-inquiry for personal survival and self-inquiry for social evolution.

As the Laddership community continues to evolve and expand, the ripples of change flow out to the world. I invite you to include yourself in this artistry, safely held with esteem among so many other artists. Explore, discover and enjoy the ride as together we generate a new way of being for the highest good of all.
