More excerpted reflections from the participants of the 21-Day Karunavirus Challenge.

Day 12: Be A Good Friend

"I struggle with friendships. I don't have close friends, but I have cultivated an appreciation for the friends I do have. The first week we sheltered in place I was struggling to find grounding, so I reached out to everyone, and I mean everyone in my life. This included a friend I had fallen out with 20 years ago, my grade school principal, and people who are friendly acquaintances on the periphery of my life. I learned a lot of people in my life are undergoing tremendous challenges. I write to check in, to ask if they need any kind of assistance, and I make myself available to talk or to offer other resources that I have found helpful. I have been stunned by the very positive responses I get. People seemed very touched and I have been more social than I have been in years.

"Another ongoing way of connecting has been to make and then mail homemade greeting cards. I enjoy playing with my creativity and then imagining the surprise on the recipient's end to be getting something other than a bill in the mail :)."

Day 16: Tune Into The Wisdom Of Elders

"I have learned so much over the years from befriending several women who were 10 & 20 years older than me. Some are gone now, but their shared wisdom is still with me, and I am grateful.

"Now, at age 72, to some I am the Elder. It’s a role I enjoy & I am learning from them at the same time they may feel they are learning from me.

"Circles of sharing hold many ages." 🙏

Day 17: Cultivate An Open Mind

Family Quiet Time During Lockdown (excerpt):
"It has been more than 4 weeks since the lockdown began here in India. We as a family have been fortunate to be sheltered all together at our village home...The lockdown, however, offered this precious time and space for the five of us to commit to sitting together in a circle of silence and sharing for about an hour every morning. Everyday, one of us takes the turn to anchor 'Quiet Time' practice and leads the family by offering a question/theme to introspect and reflect upon." --V

Day 18: Tap Into The Stories You Want to Live In

"In reading today’s prompt and following the links, it occurred to me that my involvement with KindSpring and ServiceSpace HAS provided me with the stories I want to live 😊. Grateful." 🙏
