For me there is something magical about hearing heartfelt wisdom from everyday people who have truly tried to live those words. It’s no chance that on the wednesday of the most alive passage in current times ... I was not going to host the Fremont circle and got the chance to attend Santa Clara Awakin circle. The passage for reading on How we listen better to strangers than family was truly a gift. I write this reflection for Fremont sangha to give them the taste for what the Original circle looks like...:)

Some of the shares that spoke to me were...

We need to cut off from the past moment and leave the unresolved work from earlier moments. Start afresh in the current moment when we are with our family.
It’s ok to take a moment and name it ... I am not listening yet Or are you ready to listen ?
We could listen to the same people as if we never heard that before - listen unbiased.
And we need to do the same to our own selves - listen to our same old thoughts with wonder and newness without judging.
Listening not just to the words but what are they really saying
Sometimes we hear great wisdom from our spouses or near ones but it’s only when we hear the same from “Great masters” that we truly start revering the wisdom...why?
We can’t continue to do the same thing and expect a different outcome - even the greatest saints had to change their ways to make progress...
Relationships that are painful could be a place to practise. When we allow our children, our parents to be as they will...without expectations ... every interaction can become joyful and no longer painful.
It’s possible to listen to people without creating envy, comparisons, conditioned thinking patterns...Rachel Naomi Remen's 5-minute insights on "Generous Listening"

All in all just listening to those we live with is a rich place to practice and its available to us freely :) There were so many more amazing shares and voices... filled with gratitude to be a part of it....
