Meditation as an act of service? Dear Servers/Servants, I'm writing to ask if any of you would like to co-organize a response team to the Lake County fires? I've been corresponding with a worker at Redwood Community Resources, asking her what they needed. Here is her response at 6:20 am this morning: I just wish you lived closer! We need people to do grief counseling for families and I remember you doing that in areas affected by disaster. So my answer is: You!!! Can we have YOU? So far people are still paralyzed with shock and have not been able to allow themselves to talk about the situation. There are families who won't go into the shelters we've made available because they are so protective of their cars and few remaining possessions, that they are choosing to sleep on the sidewalk (with their kids) next to their cars instead. Others are just standing in the street for HOURS staring at the damage. It's so sad... My heart's response is this: Yes! You can have me! There's a whole community of us service-minded people! My vision is to have 3 teams working together: 1) trauma response therapists 2) Healers (Reiki, Feldenkrais, energy) and 3) Meditators. My sense is that a group of meditators would bring a lot of healing to this situation. Would anyone be interested in organizing and participating in this with me? I'm looking at sending teams up every weekend until we're no longer needed. Please email me directly at: thien_phuong@hotmail.com
