From a long time I was thinking that, the skills that I know shouldn't just be limited to me, and the art of acting and the art of clowning should be passed on. Compassionate Clowns and Rotaract Club of Kormangala decided to organize a workshop on building oneself through theater.

So we quickly came up with a poster, and started inviting people through all the medium as possible. I wanted as many people to attend this workshop because this would have helped them to find the inner clown in them.

The activities were planned out and the big day comes, when I am going to conduct a workshop on Theater and tips and technique of clowning.

The day started with a spiritual rinse and all of us joined our hands and prayed along with the prayers that was playing behind followed by a minute of silence.

All of us were new to each other and strangers and frankly quite a few people were very skeptical about opening themselves, but this workshop being of theater, they had no choice left but to open up and collaborate with their teammates and within 2 hours of time they were working like a family and coming up with quick remedies to the problems that were presented to them.

Picture time:

The surprise was coming along the way and they did not even know it, they thought that, tips and technique to clowning will also be taught to them or shared with them in the workshop like how basic theater activities were shared with them, but little did they know that they all had to paint each other faces like clowns and they will actually be taken to the hospital.

They all had a very limited time to perform all these activities, and once they were done painting, I broke out the surprise telling that, we all have to go to St.John's hospital and clown there in Pediatrics ward.
All of them were extremely happy and got ready in a jiffy to go to hospital.

Once we reached the hospital, few of the participants started getting unwanted attention and parents were actually pointing at them, showing their kids the new clown in town. Them being new to the make up didn't realize that this attention was directed to them, but as they were slowly getting the hang of it, they started losing their inhibitions and the exercises conducted in the morning really helped them to emote themselves better.

Next half an hour to one hour was their tips and technique lessons to clowning.  Little did they know that they were building themselves on the journey of making people smile. Tears of joy, hugs to children, kisses to children, making a complete fool out of oneself, sharing their valuable time with the caretakers by actually taking interest in their life, making the doctors smile, making the nurses do Banana Dance, shaking hands with the security staff, smiling to each and everyone on the way.

Wave after wave they were giving me surprises, they all were so natural at this. All of them - truly transformed towards the end of the day!!
