All I can say is WOW!  Just see how far the waves travel! This from one of our Daily Good readers in New Zealand ...

Hello to you from New Zealand.

I just wanted to let you know how touched I was when reading your story about Dewey and how important our libraries are in our community. We live in a really small community called Mapua which lies at the top of the South Island in New Zealand.

Most of our library workers are wonderful retired volunteers who work tirelessly in our small library.

After having read your article about Dewey it hit me how important it is to say thank you to those who give of their time with no expectation of repayment.

With that I set out to make a banana loaf which I delivered straight after I collected my young daughter from school.

I guess my point of writing to you is to firstly say a big THANK YOU for opening my eyes to what is important in our lives. It is amazing
how your story reached right across the world to us in our tiny community. It spurred me on to give.

The library ladies were very touched and albeit surprised. I printed out the article about Dewey and explained to the ladies how I came about to bake them the loaf ... the library is now planning on perhaps buying the book!

Dewey has truly touched the world. Your kindness to Dewey has spread afar!  My 9yr old 'Holly' also got to experience what it means to truly care and give.

Thank you from us all in Mapua New Zealand.

Perhaps the Mapua library can connect with Iowa Public library as international library friends..? Who knows.

Bye for now

Kindest Regards
Trish G
