It was the Mother’s Day Sunday. My wife and I were debating how to spend our afternoon. I told her whatever we decide to do later, first We have to stop to greet these Ekatva Kids who will be arriving in DC soon and I want our daughter to hand flower to each of those kids. She agreed and we went to the hotel to receive them. By the time we got there, they had already arrived and they were in their rooms refreshing themselves from the long travel before the lunch.

As soon as they came down, our two year old got so excited to see all those kids and immediately started running, jumping, and hugging them around. She enjoyed and had such a smiling gesture while giving flower to each of them. Each one of them symbolizes this blooming flower bud who is going to spread the fragrance of love and joy to so many people around the world. Looking our daughter enjoying and receiving so much love from all the kids, we decided to stay for the lunch together with all the group.

Before the meal, we sat down in the circle holding hands to each other to offer the gratitude prayer. I was so happy to see that our two year old was humming the chant “Jai Jagat” (May the whole world be happy) along with all those teenagers. We really had great time being with them and really felt so grateful that we could be part of it.

While driving back, my wife told me suddenly, "Thank you so much!"  I was totally puzzled and asked her, "Thank you for what? Are you being sarcastic for ruining our lunch plan? :)"  "No!" she said, “It was the best Mother’s day gift and the best lunch”. I was so glad to hear her say that. More than anything else which blew me totally away was... She shared me her feeling, while we were praying and singing holding hands with all those kids, she was contemplating of doing something similar to the kids from our hometown in Nepal someday. I am not sure whether these imagination will ever come in reality but I felt so blessed to hear her say that, just sitting few minutes among those kids.
