On Friday, April 12 at 6:00PM, we're delighted to host an
Awakin Circle, with some meditation and stories by a lifelong Gandhian, Arun Bhatt. It'll be followed by a vegetarian meal and lots of hugs. :)
To join, RSVP below and you'll be emailed the details.
Arun Bhatt ("Arun-dada") has spent decades serving alongside a Gandhian legend,
Vinoba Bhave. Walking from village to village all across India, for tens of thousands of miles, he served the grassroots communities. As a part of the "Shanti Sena" (peace army), he breathed peace in warring areas -- often in the most
remarkable ways. For 13 years, he went to jail every month for a peaceful protest to protect animal life. Stories of how he has
transformed lives are almost like folk tales. To top it all off, he did this without owning anything, or ever selling his labor -- ever. Even with a wife and two children! All he has, and wants, is simply, and powerfully, the power of love. Now, at 86 years of age, his eyes are still
shining, his heart still pours out
soulful songs, and his presence
quietly blesses -- without ever trying to.
Arun-dada will also be accompanied by a few inspired friends, including...
Rev. Bonnie Rose: As a former registered nurse, actress, and opera singer, Bonnie Rose's career trajectory has been anything but run-of-the-mill, but through it all her life's purpose has stayed constant:
love. She's now a
church minister, a
blogger and finds a lot of value in
sacred imperfection.
Nipun Mehta, founder of
ServiceSpace, a global ecosystem whose projects like DailyGood, KarmaTube, KindSpring and KarmaKitchen have touched millions of lives and transformed
his own. You can learn more in this old article on
Meditation and Service -- and in this talk on
Gandhi 3.0 at Emory.
Pranidhi Varshney, a yoga
practitioner and teacher, and the founder of
Yoga Shala West, a community-supported ashtanga yoga studio in West Los Angeles. Previously she was an actress and
singer, but her most recent experiment in love is motherhood!
Jignasha Pandya, an artist, writer, farmer, and translator extraordinaire from India. She
delves in yoga, naturopathy, and
volunteer projects, including
turning empty plots of land into edible gardens!
Audrey Lin, a UC Berkeley graduate and educator dedicated to "
small acts with great love". She is a visionary behind
KindSpring's 21-day Challenge portal and
Laddership Circles.
If you'd like to attend, RSVP below and we'll send more details.
