Bowing as a Practice
"Bow not for something -- to get something for yourself. Bow to empty yourself, to repent and clean out your mind. With no thought of self, all benefit. With a thought of self, all suffer. When you bow slowly through these big hills and vast landscape you see that all of it is made up of tiny little particles -- dust motes, atoms. Everything either can be broken down to empty space or from empty space built up into an ocean, a person, or a mountain." --Marty Verhoeven

On Saturday, June 20th at 7:15AM PST (convert to your timezone), we will gather virtually to practice this art of bowing.  After opening with some chants and some guidelines on bowing, we will engage in 30 minutes of "three steps and a bow". We will end with a dedication of merit for all living beings.

"To make peace on earth we must want it. To stop harm and fear in the world we must change our ways. To change our ways we must change our minds," Rev. Heng Sure says. "The power is ours. Evil and good, selfishness or compassion all come from the mind first. If more people care for others, the world will spontaneously grow brighter."

To join us, simply RSVP below, and we'll email you the details as we get closer to the event. Even if you cannot make it this week, but are interested in future collective bowing events, do RSVP and we'll keep you posted.
