Awakin w/ Himalayan Mystic Sri M! [Berkeley]

WHEN: September 21, 2019, 10a - 1p
WHAT:
You are invited to a morning with spiritual guide, social reformer, and educator Sri M!

Sri M was born as Mumtaz Ali to a Sufi Muslim family from Kerala.  At age 9, he received a spiritual initiation from a yogi who appeared in his backyard.  By age 19, he ventured off to the Himalayas in search of a true Master, and found Maheshwarnath Babaji-- the very yogi he encountered at age 9.  After years of training and travel throughout the Himalayas, he met his Master's Master, the legendary Babaji, first widely known from Paramahansa Yogananda's book Autobiography of a Yogi.

Upon receiving instruction from his Master to return to the plains and start a family, he left the Himalayas to continue his training as a householder and to prepare for his life's mission.  Over the coming years, he met spiritual luminaries, teachers, and saints from all traditions, including Neem Karoli Baba and J. Krishnamurti.  He's also a prominent spokesperson for interfaith harmony in dialogue with religious leaders like the Dalai Lama and Pope Francis.

Sri M's phenomenal and fascinating life story is captured in his autobiography Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master, which has sold millions of copies internationally.

Shortly after the worldwide success of his autobiography, he published The Journey Continues, which is a collection of chapters from his autobiography that were initially considered too far-out to print.  He followed that quickly with his first novel, Shunya, in which his protagonist and his journey are an amalgamation of episodes from multiple exalted spiritual figures Sri M has known.  Most recently, he's published On Meditation: Finding Infinite Bliss and Power Within
which is an anthology of many of the most frequently asked question from his public talks and retreats.

A few years ago, he embarked on The Walk of Hope a 500-day, 4,600 mile walking pilgrimage from the Southern tip of India to the northernmost state of Kashmir to rekindle interfaith harmony, equality, and a sense of shared humanity.  Through daily meetings with local leaders and communities, his message touched millions across the regions he walked and continues to transform lives through many concurrent ongoing projects.

These days, hundreds and thousands of people show up to meet him wherever he goes.  Yet he’s once again graciously agreed to come to an intimate gathering in a humble living room for a morning of meditation, Q&A, and a light lunch.

If you'd like to attend, please RSVP below.  Priority will be given to those who have not attended any other Sri M talks or events this year, yet also have a history of connection and interaction with Sri M and the Servicespace ecosystem.

We will also attempt a livestream of the event for those unable to join us in person.  And as always, video of the event will be posted to the Satsang Foundation YouTube channel following the event.

Grateful for the opportunity to host, and looking forward to seeing you!
