"It is true that we are called to create a better world. But we are first of all called to a more immediate and exalted task: that of creating our own lives." ‑‑Thomas Merton
Every week in different corners of London (Pimlico, Mill Hill, Harrow and Shoreditch), a few of us come together to sit in silence for an hour, share some aha-moments for the second hour and often have a light meal afterwards.
There no teachers, or agendas. Inspired by many others, who have done this for decades, Awakin Circles offer a space to come together and share in a context of stillness, community and service.
Flow of the evening:
7:00PM An hour of collective silence; its unguided, without any instructions or music. For first-timers, this primer on meditation may be helpful.
8:00PM A short reading (sent out earlier via email), followed by a circle of sharing of "aha" moments from everyday life.
8:45PM Vegan dinner, and general interaction.
There is no charge and no one is expected to bring anything. People organically "pay-it-forward" to the world in their own ways :)
