On a recent long international flight, at the snack station and in the toilet, were colorful fresh flowers. In several years of flying, I've only seen fresh flowers in the business or first class but never in economy. It cheered me up and reduced the stress of travel for me to enjoy these colorful beauties. When a crew member came by, I expressed my appreciation. I imagined that in a fiercely competitive market, this airline was suddenly showing some consideration for the majority of passengers' well being. She surprised me by saying that the first crew member does this - on her own- as she just likes it too. I was blown away, and felt that on board was a member of RAAOK (Random Anonymous Acts of Kindness) Tribe. I wore a smile and felt happy. It reminded me of Audrey's story of bringing flowers to a stressful job at one time to shift the energy. These flowers shifted my travel anxiety to joyful surprise. I wonder if the others on the flight also felt similar positive changes because of this attentive staff member who had made the space beautiful for us. Instinctly it made us want to leave the space cleaner and better for all too.
