The Gift of Giving

Quote of the Week

"You can always, always give something, even if it is only kindness!" - Anne Frank

The Gift Of Giving

"What binds us as a community? We believe, it starts with strong family bonds and positive values that are passed down from generation to generation. Watch Hakim's journey as he learns about kindness and giving."

This is an incredibly soul rendering video that talks about how values are caught and not taught. Kindness has a way of spreading. When one person – adult or child – commits a random act of kindness, it inspires others to do the same. With some people, the well of generosity runs deep. They do incredible things to improve the lives of others, opening up their pocketbooks or going the extra mile in unexpected ways. Each of these actions change lives, and in some cases saves lives. And each one inspires the other to act a little kinder or give more of themselves. The key is just to get the ball rolling.

I hope you enjoy watching this video as a family just as I did and look forward to many heart opening ripples in the process. [watch video]

Be the Change

People generally aren't used to receiving kindness from strangers. Most of us are too wrapped up in our lives to pay much attention to anyone else. That's why it's so striking when strangers do something unexpected. The act may be as simple as holding the door open for someone else, or letting a person go first in line. Even the smallest actions can have an impact.

Here are some tips and ways to bring little smiles on the faces of others, as we continue to flex our own generosity muscles, one small act at a time.  Additionally, here's a great Kindness Challenge toolkit to encourage kindness as an all school / community experiment.
