Quote of the Week

"If we all do one random act of kindness daily, we just might set the world in the right direction." - Martin Kornfeld

Joy And Heron: A Kindness Story

"Joy is an adorable little dog who climbs on board a boat with a fisherman. Soon after they venture out a heron hops onto the boat and tries to take some of the worms the fisherman is using for bait. Joy barks and growls to chase the heron away, which annoys the fisherman as he could also scare the fish and keep them from biting. The little dog has a change of heart when he discovers why the heron is so desperate for the worms and he makes a kind gesture that is generously repaid by the heron. Kindness leads to more kindness in this delightful animated video."

My 7-year-old daughter and I recently stumbled upon this little animation video that spoke to our hearts. As my daughter watched it, she had the biggest smile, many questions around kindness and memories of many kind acts that she had witnessed as well as the one's that she had been a part of.  It serves as a beautiful reminder of that little spark of kindness that we all carry in our hearts and is a great conversation starter on kindness, generosity and presence with our kids. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!  [watch video]

Title: The Smile That Went Around the World
By: Patrice Karst
Ages: 3-8

"What starts out as a simple gift, soon turns into a chain-reaction of smiles and kindness in this heart-warming story about a smile...that went around the world. Each smile sparks another, and then another and another and another until one day, that same smile appears out of nowhere... to help someone very special." - Publishers
