Quote of the Week

"Every day, in a 100 small ways, our children ask, 'Do you hear me? Do you see me? Do I matter?' Their behaviour often reflects our response." -- L.R. Knost

"Removing The Weeds, Tending The Flowers "

"Every day, in a 100 small ways, our children ask, ‘Do you hear me? Do you see me? Do I matter?’ Their behaviour often reflects our response." This quote of the week is such a beautiful reminder for so many of us to pause and ask this question to every child that may walk our paths. Some stories touch the core of our hearts so deeply that it creates a beautiful domino of compassion in action.

This week's article is a reminder of so many stories and unsung heroes that continue to make big differences in little hearts.

Sachi (a long-time ServiceSpace volunteer and a vortex of high-power energy, love and compassion) entered the children’s home in 2012 as a volunteer to paint the white walls of the home. She was so moved by the condition of the children in the home that she couldn’t help wondering what to do about it. A filmmaker by profession, she thought the best thing would be to create a film to raise funds to better the situation of the home. However, life had other plans. A deep believer in the power of inner transformation and the role of community in this, Sachi realized these young people needed something deeper and more powerful than what the current system was providing.

Here's a beautiful excerpt from her journey of discovering children (& childhood) and nurturing them through all the ebbs and flows of life, with a smile and lots of hope in making a difference in as many hearts as possible. [read more]

The world needs your voice.
If you have a brilliant idea... say something!

If you see an injustice... say something!

In this empowering new picture book, the author Peter H. Reynolds explores the many ways that a single voice can make a difference. Each of us, each and every day, have the chance to say something: with our actions, our words, and our voices.

Perfect for little activists everywhere, this timely story reminds readers of the undeniable importance and power of their voice. There are so many ways to tell the world who you are... what you are thinking... and what you believe. And how you'll make it better. The time is now: SAY SOMETHING!

An empowering encouragement for little ones to use their voice and actions to see change happen, help other, express gratitude and love and take a stand.

Be The Change

This week, take a moment to pause and reflect on all the weeds that have given space and pause in your life / your children's life -- that have allowed your inner flower to bloom.
