Peace In Pockets

We just keep acting in kind ways with no agenda and trust there will be a ripple of goodness somehow someway which can only lead to peace at least in pockets, if not more. Yesterday, I was waiting in line at the japanese supermarket I go to and the woman in front of me had a lot of things plus one item that didn't have a price. One of the clerks had to go find the price but also stopped to helped someone…a larger line was forming and no one looking happy at all to wait; the lady from Japan who barley spoke English was becoming embarrassed and said, please I will get this another time, it's okay. So she paid the bill, when the clerk came with her item she had just left, I paid for it and thinking I had finished my transaction asked that my things be held to the side while I ran to give the item to the lady. The lady was so confused but so happy and smiling so big. I said Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, she was laughing and bowing,we hugged - it was very sweet. I ran back to the market only to find that I still needed to sign my name! The last thing I had wanted was to inconvenience anyone with my actions. The cashier acted as if nothing happened, no smile even, just had me sign and then gave me my bag and receipt. The line seemed more angry for having to wait that much longer. But, who knows perhaps someone in line would be inspired to be kind to someone else, to be more patient maybe? I can't know and yet, still, I would do this again. As a friend told me, "just keep on being kind - can't hurt, might help"
