Awakin Central Marin with Special Guest Venerable Tashi Nyima
On May 30th, we will have the honor of hosting Tashi Nyima, the spiritual director of New Jonang Buddhist Community and a Buddhist monk for over 25 years. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Tashi-la pursued his early education with the Dominican and Jesuit fathers of the Roman Catholic Church. He practiced and taught naturopathic medicine and public health in Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, and Massachusetts.

Tashi will be sharing some insights on Freedom and the Wisdom of Equality:

"Pietistic, salvationist, and escapist tendencies have contaminated the transmission and practice of the Buddha Dharma since early times, due to social and political accommodation. However, these are insidious manifestations of the innate wrong views of separation (self-grasping) and supremacy (self-cherishing). In the doctrines of Karma and Interdependence, we find their correction in the affirmation of individual and collective freedom, and the radical equality of all sentient beings."

Our evening will start with an hour of meditation. Following Tashi's talk and a circle of sharing, a meal will be served. To join, please RSVP and you'll receive an email with more logistical details.
