Awakin Chicago: Sunday, April 30
About fifteen years ago, three people decided to sit in silence for an hour, in an everyday Silicon Valley living room. No teachers or gurus. No set agendas or proposed beliefs either. Just one strong principle --when you change within, the world changes. And instead of closing the door, they left it open ... open to all. The rest, as they say, is history

Inspired by Awakin Circles across the globe and the spirit of community, we gather every month to sit in silence for an hour, do a circle of sharing our "aha" moments (around an inspirational reading sent in advance), and have a home-cooked vegetarian meal (prepared by the host) together. There is no cost to attend and there is no underlying agenda. It is simply an offering in the spirit of stillness, community and service. No meditation experience of any kind is required, just a willingness to be present and available to whatever arises.

To attend this month, simply register  and you'll be emailed all the details. The evening's format is as follows:

6:30PM An hour of collective silence; its unguided, without any music. For first-timers, this primer on meditation may be helpful.
7:30PM Short reading, followed by a circle of sharing of “aha” moments from everyday life.
8:30PM Home-cooked vegetarian meal*
