Seva Cafe in Mumbai

Seva Cafe is an experiment in the shared joy that comes from humble giving and selfless service. Over the last 7 years, volunteers have come together in various cities to cook and serve a meal with love.

These meals are then offered as a gift to any guest who wishes to join the space. Guests are trusted to pay forward this generosity by leaving behind an amount that can keep this experiment sustaining.

In essence, it is an opportunity for diverse volunteers to serve unconditionally and for guests to go through the process of 'valuing' the generosity they receive. It is through this process that we realize we are indeed connected.

On Sunday, 13th January 2013, 15 children from diverse backgrounds, ranging for the slums of Napean Sea road to more privileged environments will come together to offer a wholesome meal at the beautiful Shantivan Gardens.

We will start with 15 minutes of silence, followed by a small talk by Shital Mehta who has been working with kids for the last thirty five years. She will share her experiences in introducing children to values like compassion and generosity.
We then open a circle of sharing on Generosity by Nipun Mehta and a few other friends.

The volunteers for the afternoon will then serve lunch and all contributions will go towards future acts of generosity at the Shantivan Gardens like the Seva Cafe.
