Real-World Implementation
INTENTION: As we individually and collectively explored the theme of compassion in education, many "big ideas" emerged:
  • How we show up is as important as how/what we teach
  • Making time and space for slow stories is critical
  • content vs context in proximal and distal environments
  • systems thinking/building resilience/interconnection
In this Pod Room, the core question we will explore is how we each of us can make small changes in what we are doing in the "real world" to incorporate what we learned from each other in our pod.

BACKGROUND: This summer has been a time for reflection and learning. At times it may seem as though it is difficult to make all of the changes we'd like to see, so it might be helpful to come together in community to remind each other that we can all do small things to bring more compassion into our educational systems. Everyone had so many wonderful stories and we can clearly see that the collective intelligence is so much greater than any one of us. If we each share just one story of how something we learned in the pod will be carried out into the world, perhaps this will lead to a scattering of new "seeds"!

INSPIRATION: Going back and reading everyone's reflections made me think about how helpful it could be to have a shared conversation with a small group about taking these insights into the real world of our classrooms in a couple of weeks!

As a professor, I would love to explore applications of these timeless insights in our practical, modern learning environments. Hope you can join us!
