If you lived with me under arbor,
We'd rest our heads on the coos of doves
And cover our shoulders in lilac scented buds.
I'd show you how to breathe ever more deep
The green and blues of our  bowered keep.
Skittish squirrels would twitch and chatter
We'd smile and laugh back with no matter.
Endless joys we'd quietly sit
When suddenly notice narcissus;
Those pale dainty girls
Ruffled in their fragile unfurl.
A flash of yellow streaks by
You'd ask, is that a leaf falling up?
And I'd smile and reply,
It's a goldfinch in springish hue
Exalting in love, like me and you.

*companion poem to If I Lived Under Backyard Arbor -- both read at local event in celebration of April, National Poetry Month.
