After reading this week's Awakin reading on Ninety Six Words for Love, I ended up writing a letter to my daughter.  (Context: my daughter was born underwater in a hot tub, with a sauna next door.)

My Dear Kshanti,

I was listening to this song by Roberta Flack's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" today and I heard these lines:

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the endless skies, my love
To the dark and the endless skies

I started to remember the day you were born ….
And I was holding you in my arms in the hot tub …
and your eyes were wide open …
and you did not even cry, but were looking up at me with those big wide open eyes ….
and then I took you into the sauna and just stared at you …. and your eyes.
It's like the moon and the stars were in your eyes …..

The song just reminded me of that day ...

Lots of Love

Dad
