When visiting my friend Blair, we sometimes move a table outside on a sidewalk and enjoy a meal together. This often attracts passer-byes to stop to chat, drivers to wave, and smiles all-around in this San Francisco neighborhood. Last Sunday, blessed by all such attention, we conjured an idea for an ongoing 'free bistro'. Here's the invite we send out to a neighborhood list:
