Just have to share a beautful email that came in this morning from Susan Schaller, who many of you know. She is traveling all over the country doing her own empty hands journey, just letting the unknown guide her. It's great hearing from her. If you haven't read the interview already, I'll just say it's an amazing story.  A little background: my [younger] brother founded the religious studies department at LSU and is now professor emeritus there.

Dear Richard,

I had the pleasure of meeting your brother a few days ago. I loved the cosmic poetry.

You and I meet at an Indian restaurant; you interview and write about me; that issue is lying on John's coffee table when a former student was visiting; he picks it up, sees the article (his mother told me he called her and was crying he was so moved); he writes and asks if he could make a film; we become friends and work together; I go to Louisiana to work with him, then I meet your brother in an Indian restaurant. Nice.

We began a conversation that John wanted to continue. Also, if you care to write your hypothesis on how Richard and John were led to meditation and contemplative prayer, respectively, I would love to read your thoughts. My curiosity stems from being the "weird" one in my family; my siblings not able to talk much or at all with me and vice versa.

Richard, I hope all is well.
