Yesterday in Taiwan, instead of celebrating my birthday in the usual way -- with my family at a fancy restaurant -- I tried a new experiment.  I went to a vegetarian buffet and bought dinner for the first seventy people!  Back when we spontaneously tagged bunch of people with shaved ice with Nipun's honararium, Robert Block also gifted his for similar purposes. So I used that money and added a bit more of my own.

The guests were shockingly surprised -- but full of joy. :)

The most amazing part was that one of the guests came to me and introduced herself as the founder of Filiality Association -- an organization dedicated to encouraging the connection of children to their parents, elders and ancestors. When she found out that I was the one who had paid it forward, and that I was a concert pianist who also tries to take care of her parents, she decided to make a short film on my filiality and kindness! They want me to talk about why I do such acts even when it does nothing to advance my career. :)

The filming will take place at my home this Thursday 7/31, just my mom and myself (maybe Auntie too, since I also take care of her). Looking forward to seeing what happens next -- karma seems to work at a very fast pace. :)
