Couple of us were at a casual restaurant for breakfast one morning when we ran into Amish, an acquaintance who joined us for a meal.  At some point, Khush and Afreen noticed that 3 college girls on table next to us were having a tough day, so they pulled out a Smile Card, pulled off a tag. :) Needless to say the 3 girls were in a shock/ surprise/ awed space when they received the "paid" bill and the Smile card. They kept staring at the Smile card and wondering what this was all about. Was fun to see the gamut of emotions that ran thru their little group.

This restaurant is a very busy one in Pune and so the servers rarely have time for small chit chat. However at the end of our meal, when we were leaving the restaurant almost all the waiters smiled at us and waved good bye as they knew that something had transpired at our table which was beyond the daily grind.

Once outside the restaurant, Amish who had been a silent witness thus far, looks me in the eye and says "I have always wanted to be part of chain of kindness. My family runs a printing press and I wish to contribute in some way. Can I help you print some more Smile Cards so that you can keep the goodness flowing?"

To cut the long story short, we received our beta version of 300 Smile Cards on Wednesday just before the silence hour!  Seems like this card was waiting for a gift-i-vist hearted printer to come along.

And thus was the born the first bi-lingual Smile Card, in Hindi on one side and English on the other.
