About 30 of us huddled in a beautiful tea shop in Berkeley, for a "Tea with Rev. Heng Sure". The topic was "roots", as we spoke about the cultural shift away from humanities -- and therefore, non-empirical explorations like meaning that aren't covered by science (or the marketplace). Songs, puppets, conversation all made for sacred ambiance. As some left, ServiceSpacers huddled for this photo below. But that was just the beginning. The after party lasted till midnight, as we shared stories (go B1 and B2!), songs (go David!), raps (via Nimooo!) and lots of smiles. People were gifting so many things left and right, as Yedollah, the Iranian coffee shop owner, kept pouring more tea. As is often the case in such settings, love was in the air. Yedollah had run into Nipun's Ted Talk and after this experiential understanding of ServiceSpace, he's super ready to pilot gift economy tea. This comes on the heals of Moses doing Karma Cinema at his theatre in Oakland. So beautiful to see how one thing ripples into another, so effortlessly.
