I took a walk in the rain
With Vincent:
Carrying his Starry Night
Onto the wetland forest path
Where we dreamed together
The swirls of light
Drip-dripping from the leaves
Just waking from hibernation’s wait.
We sloshed stepped
Across the clovered carpet
And violets wild
Buttercupped in dotted blooms.
From our umbrella shielded gaze,
Brushed and shaded greens
Were slathered wet,
Running rivulets on the palette
Of a drizzly Sunday morn.
On the bench we sat
Churched in contemplated color;
The absolute art
Of the stained glass gift
Painted in the spring rains.
