Kindful Kids Weekly

Quote of the Week

"You have within you more love than you could ever understand." - Rumi

Love Train

Have you heard the song "Love Train" created by O'Jays in 1973? This week we share with you a recent video produced by 'Playing For Change' in partnership with 'Turnaround Arts' with an intention to share the message that the arts have the power to improve our schools and build more compassionate, connected communities.

The lyrics of the song start with:
"People all over the world
Join hands
Start a love train
Love train"

Reading Corner

Title: Unfair and Lovely
By: Mallika Thoppay (Author) and Kavitha Amarnath (Illustrator)
For: 8+ years

Sahana and her sister, Surabhi, move to a new city and start at a new school. They both have simple common dreams - they want to learn, make friends, and have fun. It happens easily for Surabhi. But not so for Sahana. She has to face many obstacles and feels being treated unfairly. She approaches her mom for advice. What guidance her mom gives her and how Sahana finds her voice with grit, love and beauty forms the rest of the story.

Be The Change

Reflect on what leads to a "divison" around you - it could be based on a preference for a particular religion, skin color, political view, country, sports team, ideology etc. Do a small act of kindness with an intention to bridge the divide and add more Love in the world.
