Kindful Kids Weekly

Quote of the Week

"If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete." - Jack Kornfield

Why Parents Need Self-Compassion During The Coronavirus Pandemic

"Due to the current public health pandemic, many family members are at home attempting to juggle multiple roles throughout the day. In addition to being mom or dad, we are now acting as teachers, and many of us are trying to balance work, home, and child-rearing responsibilities in entirely new ways.

We are figuring it out as we go, but as always, trying something new usually involves mistakes. We will hit some road bumps. We will probably lose our cool at times – and that’s OK. We must learn to be kind to ourselves; to trade self-criticism for self-compassion; to forgive ourselves and others who are trying to make the best of a challenging time." [read more]

Title: I Am Human
By: Susan Verde
Ages: 4 and up

"Being human means we are full of possibility. We learn, we dream, we wonder at the world around us. But we also make mistakes and can feel fearful or sad.

From the series of I Am Yoga, I Am Peace, I Am Love, and I Am One comes a hopeful celebration of the human family. I Am Human affirms that we can make good choices by acting with compassion and having empathy for others and ourselves. When we find common ground, we can feel connected to the great world around us and mindfully strive to be our best selves." - Publishers
